Jean Roehrenbeck

Jean brings nearly two decades of political, policy, and private sector experience to Summit Strategies. A veteran of Capitol Hill, Jean most recently served as a senior Presidential Appointee to the U.S. Department of Transportation, working for Secretary Pete Buttigieg. There, she led the Secretary’s and the Department’s engagement with Congress, state, and local governments.  

Jean brings significant expertise in transportation, energy, and environmental issues to Summit. At USDOT, she helped to lead the investment of $200 billion from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) in bridge, tunnel, highway, port, rail, and airport projects across the United States. Her previous experience in the private sector includes years of working for a multi-national energy company, ultimately focusing on their deployment of clean energy projects, including wind, solar, micro-grids, and storage. 

Prior to her time in the Biden Administration, she was chief of staff for Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ). She began her career on Capitol Hill with former Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, leaving his office as his communications director. Jean then went to work for Congressman Mike Doyle (D-PA), serving as his legislative director, leading his committee work for the Energy and Commerce Committee. Immediately prior to Rep. Sherrill, she led U.S. corporate affairs for the renewable energy business at National Grid plc. Jean graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a degree in International Relations. A native of New Jersey, she lives in DC with her husband Phil and puppy Charlie.
