Tukwila Teens Visit DC
This past week Summit Strategies hosted the Teens for Tukwila, the ‘official’ voice of Tukwila, Washington youths, in our Washington, DC office. The Teens were in town for the National League of Cities Conference, where they met with other civic-minded youth groups from around the country to discuss common issues they were facing and brainstorm solutions.
The Tukwila delegation was made up of an impressive group of teens who each hail from very different backgrounds but were all dedicated to improving and maintaining their city. While in DC, in addition to attending the National League of Cities conference, the Tukwila Teens toured the national monuments and various Smithsonian museums, and spoke with the Summit Strategies team. The Summit Strategies team talked to the teens about government affairs, activism, and the political culture in Washington DC, and their own career paths. Additionally, the Teens discussed their own interests, goals, and takeaways from D.C.
The teens concluded their trip by meeting with Washington Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell. They prepared an impressively informative and compelling presentation on their backgrounds and the city of Tukwila that is sure to leave a lasting impression on the Senators and provide lifelong memories for the students.
Summit Strategies was honored to help facilitate the Teens for Tukwila trip and looks forward to staying in touch and watching these students achieve their goals.
